The Pre-K/Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) Education Program prepares early learners for success in kindergarten and beyond. Through our continued use of the Creative Curriculum, children are stimulated to ask questions and think deeply. Literacy, math and science are woven throughout these investigations.
Each day begins with a morning meeting, a rich opportunity for children to connect and become active participants in their learning. Engaging routines and activities provide opportunities for whole group discussion and mini-lessons that transition students into the day while encouraging communication and collaboration.
Our program teaches foundational literacy and math skills in small classroom settings. Children learn letter-sound relationships, sight word recognition, and basic mathematical functions. Our program also includes S.T.E.A.M. and character education. We are proud that our children consistently earn top scores in Kindergarten Readiness.
Social-Emotional: Children learn to express feelings verbally and to act appropriately. Character education is introduced.
Mathematics: Teachers introduce addition and subtraction, patterns, graphs, reasoning and problem-solving.
Creative Expression: Children identify the pitch and tempo in music, create 3D shapes from clay, and act out familiar stories in sequence.
Science & Social Studies: Children explore different species of animals, study various cultural traditions, and compare family traditions.
Digital Interactions: Children become more comfortable with keyboard and mouse use, and explore changes in technology over time.
